Following on from the design of the Stealth plates and bowls, and from the exploration of faceted objects, the Obelisk Vase was conceived. Generally speaking, obelisks are usually tall, four-sided, narrow tapering monument which ends in a pyramid-like shape at the top. When modelling the obelisk Vase I turned a clay model of the conventional Obelisk upside down, and, with the process of subtraction, I shaped the vase by removing clay from the initial form. This created a more dramatic and starker shape.
The Obelisk Vase is made in white earthenware, and glazed in white clear glaze.
