One Light is a table lamp that performs two lighting functions. It creates a spotlight, and a supporting ambient backlight.
Inspiration came from 19th century women's costume, and more specifically, the women's head bonnets. The downwards projection of the opening of the headwear forms a strong geometric shape that was used as a reference. This shape creates a sense of conservatism and quietness.
The reason for naming the lamp One Light is because its shape resembles the outline of the number 1, and also, it has two light sources in one object.
The lamp is made from recycled cardboard mail rolls and wrapped in veneer off-cuts. The light features low energy consuming LED lights. The lamp can be used as a supporting light when reading or writing in low lit spaces. The light fits in the palm of an adult hand, allowing it to be placed readily.
