Feather Knife
Stage: Production
Material(s): Tasmania Blackwood
Coincidental Inspiration
A wooden knife inspired by a feather found on the grounds of the National Art School in Sydney. The feather’s form was visually abstracted to shape the final design, while its lightness was also reflected in the knife’s construction, creating a delicate yet functional object.
The Feather Knife is crafted from Tasmanian Blackwood, a tree species native to the east coast of Australia. The wood was carefully cut into measured blocks before being hand-shaped using various sanders to achieve its final form. The knife can be used as a cutting utensil or as a display knife.
