Brand engagement through inspiring content
The Fiji Airways site was primarily focused on transactions, selling flights and holidays. Our goal was to raise awareness of the brand. The vision was to make Fiji more appealing and encourage users to explore content through a hub called "Discover Fiji." This approach was designed to increase engagement with searches for key offerings, like flights to Fiji and accommodation, while also inspiring broader interest in traveling to Fiji.
A visual design approach
The visual focus aimed to showcase the beauty of Fiji through rich photography, incorporate brand motifs to support the design, and adopt a minimal "design lightly" approach in the design elements for a simplified visual and user experience. This concept was reinforced throughout the website, influencing everything from captivating photography supported by generous white space and easy-to-scan icons. The ample white space highlighted the photography, inspiring potential travelers to visit Fiji.
Culturally rich country
To kick off the project, we worked closely with the Fiji Airways team and brought our internal team together, ensuring everyone was aligned with a collective goal. Collaborating with Fiji Airways' brand team, they helped us gain a deeper understanding of the company’s broader business. With Fiji Airways’ strong focus on being a lifestyle brand and its symbolic connection to Fiji, our research uncovered numerous opportunities to enhance content related to things to do, destinations to visit, adventures, and activities in Fiji.
We also explored Fiji’s rich cultural experiences, annual festivals, and events, and incorporated wedding and accommodation offerings into our research.
Bula greetings!
When Fijians use this greeting, they are wishing you good health. We recognised the importance of mirroring this relaxed and friendly tone in the online experience, allowing travelers to engage with content in areas such as how to get around, destinations to visit, things to do, finding accommodation, exploring Fiji's food and culture, and even planning their wedding. To further enhance the experience, we created an explorative map that highlights some of Fiji's most engaging locations and provides information about these places.

Feeling welcomed
We provided Fiji Airways with a visually rich, engaging, and comprehensive website for their travelers. The project was a pleasure to work on, and the team at Fiji Airways was incredibly friendly and collaborative. Our internal content team was also fantastic to work with.
This project significantly expanded my knowledge of creating rich, content-driven online experiences. It also offered a valuable opportunity to further develop my visual language, UX/UI skills, and my understanding of the overall website framework, including user journeys, information architecture, site mapping, and user flows. I truly enjoyed every step of the process.
